Summary: On February 12, 2026, the High Court of Delhi allowed Akshay Dagar to leave jail temporarily in a jail assault case from 2022. Even though there were serious accusations, the court found no reason to keep him locked up any longer.

The Case Background

Akshay Dagar was involved in a serious incident while already in jail for another case. On August 1, 2024, his request to get out of jail was first submitted, and it was finally looked at by Judge Girish Kathpalia. The case started from a police report numbered 341/2022 at the Hari Nagar police station, involving charges like assault and trying to kill someone.

Allegations and Incident

The main accusation against Akshay was that he and his friends attacked another prisoner using a sharp object, causing many stab wounds. The incident was caught on a security camera. Strangely, there was no investigation into whether the person in charge of the jail knew about the attack beforehand.

"The accused/applicant used some sharpened object as a knife and thereby caused multiple stab injuries to the victim."

Co-Accused and Bail

Akshay's friends, named Ankit, Digvijay, and Vicky, had already been allowed to leave jail temporarily. Akshay had been in jail for four years before his request was considered.

The Victim's Fate

Sadly, the person who was attacked has since died. However, the court explained that there was no proof connecting the injuries to the victim's death. They mentioned that if new proof came up, more charges could be added.

"As on date, no connection has been found between the injuries sustained by the victim in the subject incident and his death."

Past Cases and Court's Decision

Akshay had four other cases against him, but he was found not guilty in three and was already allowed to leave jail temporarily for the fourth. Because of these reasons, Judge Kathpalia decided to let him leave jail, requiring him to pay a personal bond of Rs.10,000 with a guarantee from someone else.

Final Thoughts

The court stressed that this decision should not affect the final outcome of the trial. They immediately informed the person in charge of the jail about Akshay's release.
