Quick Summary: Himanshu Agarwal missed a crucial deadline for MBBS admission because he was sick. The court has now allowed him to submit a new request to the university.
Himanshu Agarwal, an 18-year-old student from Hyderabad, signed up for the MBBS/BDS courses under the management quota for the 2025-26 school year. Unfortunately, he got sick and couldn't take part in the first phase of counseling by the deadline on September 24, 2025.
"I couldn't choose my options online because of my health," Himanshu explained in his request to the court.
The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, represented by Ms. T. Pushpa Rani, stated that the rules were clear. Students who missed the first phase could not join later phases to avoid holding up seats. The changes announced in October only allowed new registrations for those who had initially taken part.
The case was heard by Chief Justice Sri Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin. They understood the situation and decided that Himanshu could submit a new request to the university. The university is expected to consider this within two days.
"We have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case," the judges clarified.
If the university allows Himanshu to choose his options online, he may be considered for any empty seats in the mop-up round. This gives him a small hope to secure his admission.
The court has allowed Himanshu Agarwal to make a new request to the university due to his illness, giving him another chance to apply for admission.
