A court decision denied bail before arrest for Vennached Nandeesh, who is accused in a robbery case. Here's what happened.
On April 6, 2025, during the Sri Ramanavami festival, a man visited a temple. Later, he tried to call his wife, but she didn't answer. Worried, he returned home to find her unconscious with injuries and her gold necklace missing. He reported the incident, leading to a police case against unknown offenders.
The police investigation identified the accused. The first suspect was arrested on April 11, 2025, and the second and third suspects on May 23, 2025. The accused, including Vennached Nandeesh (the fourth suspect), allegedly planned to rob the complainant’s wife to pay for their expenses.
"The first suspect sat on her chest and hit her with his fists while the second suspect held her legs," stated the police report.
The case was registered under Crime No. 69 of 2025 at Kulkacherla Police Station. Initially charged under certain sections for causing serious injury, it was later changed to sections for robbery causing serious harm.
Nandeesh's lawyer argued that he was innocent, wrongly accused, and a student preparing for exams. They requested bail, claiming there was no evidence directly linking him to the crime.
"The petitioner has no criminal history and is ready to cooperate with the investigation," the lawyer stated.
On the other hand, the prosecutor opposed the bail, emphasizing the seriousness of the robbery charges.
Justice K. Sujana reviewed the case and denied bail. Despite not finding the necklace with Nandeesh, the investigation suggested his involvement. The court emphasized the ongoing investigation and the seriousness of the charges.
"The petitioner is not entitled to bail before arrest," concluded Justice Sujana.
