Telangana High Court: State Ordered to Pay ₹7,87,132 to Labour Cooperative for Delayed Payment

The Telangana High Court has told the state to pay ₹7,87,132 to M/s Netaji Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd. The case was about a payment disagreement for digging work done under the Mission Kakatiya-III project.

The Backstory: Excavation Work Done Right

M/s Netaji Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd, a registered cooperative, was hired by the Irrigation Department for digging work in Kadavendi Village, Jangaon District. The work was completed successfully with no issues. Despite this, the payment was delayed.

"The Assistant Pay and Accounts Officer is not paying the said amount to M/s Netaji Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd herein."

The Payment Dispute: Where's the Money?

The cooperative was owed ₹7,87,132 for their work. The Executive Engineer had already asked for the payment to be processed, but it was stuck with the Assistant Pay and Accounts Officer.

Court Hearing: What Happened

Justice K. Lakshman listened to the case. The Assistant Government Lawyer for Irrigation confirmed that the bill was submitted and waiting to be paid. The Finance and Planning department also promised that the payment process would be looked into.

The Verdict: Pay Up, Telangana!

The court found no disagreements over the payment amount. Justice K. Lakshman ordered the Assistant Pay and Accounts Officer to release the payment within two weeks.

"This Writ Petition is disposed of directing the Assistant Pay and Accounts Officer to pay the aforesaid amount...within two weeks."
