In a recent decision, Judge T. Madhavi Devi dismissed a request made by Somavarapu Sridevi. She wanted a special team to investigate alleged corruption involving rice mills in Telangana. Here's what happened.
Somavarapu Sridevi accused officials from Nalgonda's Civil Supplies Department and Corporation of favoring seven parboiled rice mills. These mills supposedly sent Custom Milled Rice (CMR) to Kakinada Port, causing financial losses to the Public Distribution System and the Telangana government.
Interestingly, Somavarapu Sridevi's lawyer had previously submitted a document saying they weren't going to appear in court for this matter. This absence was noted again during the proceedings.
"There is no appearance on behalf of Somavarapu Sridevi even today."
Judge T. Madhavi Devi noted that the request didn't seem to be about a personal issue. Instead, it looked like a case meant for public interest. Because of this, the court decided the request wasn't valid.
While dismissing the case, the court mentioned that Somavarapu Sridevi could try again in a different court if she meets all the necessary conditions.
"Somavarapu Sridevi is free to approach the right Court, if she fulfills all required conditions."
The court closed the case with no order about costs, ending this particular legal journey for Somavarapu Sridevi.
