Summary: A father and son, Rahul and Ramesh Gaikwad, were held by the police in Hyderabad. They claim their detention was unfair and harsh. Here's what happened.

The Gaikwads' Claim of Unfair Detention

Rahul and Ramesh Gaikwad, a law student and businessman, took legal action against the Telangana police. They say that on August 14, 2025, they were held at the Panjagutta Police Station from 1 PM to 6 PM. During this time, the police allegedly used rude language and threatened to send them to jail. The Gaikwads argue this was a violation of their rights under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.

"The action of Respondent Nos.4 to 6...is unfair, random, and done with bad intent."

Property Dispute and False Complaint

The issue began with a property disagreement. Ramesh Gaikwad claims ownership of a property in Ameerpet, Hyderabad, which he gave to his son, Rahul. However, a complaint was filed against them by Smt. B Kanaka Durga, leading to a police case under various sections of the IPC, including cheating and forgery. The Gaikwads insist that the complaint was false and that the police acted without checking documents.

Police's Side of the Story

The police, represented by the Assistant Government Lawyer, told a different story. They said that a complaint was made by employees of SSL Infra Company against Ramesh Gaikwad on August 13, 2025. The complaint accused him of demanding money and making threats. The police claim they only called him for an initial inquiry, after which he left the station.

Court's Decision

Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar heard the case and decided that since a police report had already been filed, the case was closed. The court instructed the police to follow the correct legal steps before taking any further action against the Gaikwads.

"This case is closed with instructions to the authorities to follow the correct legal steps as required by law."

This means the investigation will continue, but the police must stick to legal rules. The Gaikwads can still object to any future actions if they think their rights are being violated.
