Summary: A long-standing court case involving a bank employee's promotion dispute has been dismissed because the person who filed the case didn't show up multiple times. Judge Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao was in charge of the case.
This case started when P. Muralidhar Swamy, a bank worker from Adilabad District, filed a legal complaint against The Deccan Grameena Bank and others back in 2006. The main issue was about getting promoted to a higher position.
The case was set for hearings on August 13 and August 20, 2025. However, P. Muralidhar Swamy didn't show up on both days. Judge Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao noticed the absence and decided to consider dismissing the case.
An important temporary order was given on April 20, 2006, which stopped the bank from filling a specific job until further notice. This order was meant to protect Swamy's interests while the case was still going on.
“The respondents were directed not to fill up one post of Junior Management Grade Scale – I, pending further orders.”
After 19 years, the court decided there was nothing left to decide. Judge Rao chose to close the case but allowed Swamy the option to reopen it if a new reason comes up.
“Accordingly, this Writ Petition is closed. However, liberty is granted to the petitioner to approach this Court afresh, if the cause of action survives.”
The case was dismissed because P. Muralidhar Swamy was not present for the hearings. However, he can bring the case back to court if a new issue arises.
