Sometimes, court cases take unexpected turns. This is exactly what happened with the divorce case of Asha Sanjay Dandekar and Sanjay Shantaram Dandekar. What started as a fight over claims of mistreatment ended with both agreeing to part ways peacefully.

The Initial Court Battle

The story began when Sanjay filed for divorce, claiming mistreatment under a specific law. The couple, married on February 21, 2013, found themselves in court as Sanjay sought to end the marriage.

Asha's Stand

Asha opposed the divorce. She tried to get the case dismissed, but the Family Court in Bandra, Mumbai, agreed with Sanjay. On February 14, 2022, the court granted him a divorce, agreeing that Asha had mistreated him.

"The husband proved that the wife had treated him with cruelty."

Turning the Page

Unhappy with the decision, Asha appealed. However, something changed along the way. By the time the appeal reached the High Court, both Asha and Sanjay had decided to settle their differences outside of court.

A Peaceful Resolution

On October 1, 2025, in front of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Sandesh D. Patil, both parties agreed to end the marriage by mutual consent. They filed an agreement, which the court accepted, canceling the previous decision.

"Both parties have decided to forgive and forget and lead a peaceful life."

The Final Order

The High Court ended their marriage with mutual consent, replacing the previous order with the new agreement. Both parties agreed to follow the terms they had set.

Case Closed

With the mutual consent order, the appeal and any related applications were dismissed. The court ensured that both Asha and Sanjay understood and agreed to the terms without any pressure.

This case shows how sometimes, even in the face of conflict, people can find common ground and choose to move forward peacefully.
