Summary: Fatima Mukhtar, living in Hyderabad, tried to get into MBBS/BDS courses through the Management Quota 'B' category. Unfortunately, her application was turned down because she missed the deadlines.
Nineteen-year-old Fatima Mukhtar wanted to become a doctor. She applied for MBBS/BDS courses through the Management Quota 'B' category, but she didn't know that she needed to register separately for this category.
"I thought one application was enough," Fatima said in her statement dated 20.09.2025.
Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, represented by Mr. T. Sharath, explained that the application deadline had already passed. The university had started the counseling process after a decision by the Supreme Court about local candidates.
"The University cannot extend the application date," said the university's lawyer.
The case was reviewed by Chief Justice Sri Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin. They decided not to tell the university to consider Fatima's application because the admission schedule is strict and important.
"We are not inclined to issue any directions," the judges concluded.
Fatima’s lawyer asked that if the registration dates were extended, her application should be considered. The court agreed with this but still dismissed the case.
"If the date is extended, she can apply," the court noted.
In the end, the court dismissed the petition and did not require Fatima to pay any fees. Fatima is now hoping that an extension might give her another chance to apply.
