Summary: On January 20, 2026, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court instructed the Tahsildar in Kodaikanal to handle a request to change land ownership by Sureshkumar G P N within 12 weeks.

The Case Begins

Sureshkumar G P N, the person who brought the case to court, asked for a court order to make the District Revenue Officer and other officials process his application to change the official records of who owns a piece of land. He first sent this application on January 18, 2024, and followed up on February 2, 2024. The land is 90 cents on the west side of the Old Survey No. 393/1 in Thandikudi Village, Kodaikanal Taluk, Dindigul District.

Court's Decision

Judge K. Suresnder was in charge of the case. The court told the second person involved, the Tahsildar of Kodaikanal, to look into Sureshkumar G P N's application. The Tahsildar must fix any mistakes in the land records and issue a separate ownership document.

“The request from the petitioner dated 02.02.2024 should be looked at and decided based on its merits and the law,” said Judge K. Suresnder.

Time Frame and Procedure

The court ordered the Tahsildar to finish this process within 12 weeks of getting the court order. The Tahsildar must hold a meeting to allow Sureshkumar G P N and any other affected people to explain their side.

Final Remarks

The court highlighted that any land arguments should be brought to the proper civil court. There were no orders about paying for legal costs.

The decision is meant to make sure Sureshkumar G P N’s request is dealt with quickly, allowing for a fair and legal outcome to his application to change the land ownership records in Kodaikanal.
