In a recent court decision, Judge K. Sujana refused to allow a woman to avoid arrest before trial. She is accused of hitting a man with a broomstick, which led to his death. The case has caught people's attention because of its unusual details and the arguments made in court.

What Happened?

On September 4, 2025, a complaint was made by the father of the man who died, Sridhar Reddy. He claimed that his son was attacked by a security guard and some others near Asha Hospital in Banjara Hills. Sridhar Reddy was reportedly taken into a basement, beaten, and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

"The deceased was assaulted near Asha Hospital and later declared dead," the complaint stated.

The Accusations

The woman accused, named Sumanthi, is said to have hit Sridhar Reddy with a broomstick. Her lawyer argued that she didn't know the man, didn't mean to hurt him, and that what she did was minor. They also mentioned that Sridhar Reddy had a heart condition, suggesting the broomstick attack wasn't enough to cause his death.

"She merely beat him with a broomstick, which isn't a dangerous weapon," her lawyer argued.

The Prosecution's Stand

The prosecutor, who represents the government, was against the bail, highlighting how serious the accusations are. They said the investigation is still happening and letting her out on bail now wouldn't be right.

"The allegations are serious, and the investigation is not complete," the prosecutor stated.

The Court's Decision

Judge K. Sujana looked over the case and decided not to allow the woman to avoid arrest before trial. The judge pointed out how serious the accusations are and told Sumanthi to turn herself in and ask for regular bail.

"Considering the grievous nature of allegations, anticipatory bail is not granted," Justice Sujana concluded.

What's Next?

Sumanthi was told to turn herself in to the trial court and ask for regular bail. The trial court is expected to handle her request quickly.
