In a recent court case, Malladi Sudhesh, a student from Telangana, was given a chance to apply again for medical school admission after missing an important registration step.
Malladi Sudhesh, a 17-year-old student, wanted to join an MBBS/BDS course for the 2025-26 academic year. He took the NEET UG 2025 exam and got an All India Rank of 278415. Although he applied under the 'A' category, he forgot to register for the 'B&C' category, which he needed for the management quota.
Sudhesh's lawyer, Mr. Abdul Kabeer, explained that they had contacted the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, but the request wasn't accepted. They wanted the court to tell the university to consider Sudhesh's case, similar to another case decided on October 6, 2025.
The university, represented by Mr. Tandra Ramesh and Mr. T. Sharath, argued that Sudhesh didn’t follow the necessary steps. According to their rules, only students who registered in the first phase could continue in later phases. They mentioned a notice from September 22, 2025, and an update from October 4 and 6, 2025, which allowed only those who had already registered to apply again.
The court, led by Chief Justice Apresh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, decided that Sudhesh could submit a request to the university. They instructed the university to consider his request within two days. If accepted, Sudhesh could apply for any unfilled seats in the final round.
"We have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case," the judges clarified.
The court has given Sudhesh a chance to ask the university to reconsider his application. If the university agrees, he can apply for any remaining seats.
