In a recent court case, Yella Maila Reddy, an 84-year-old farmer, had trouble getting his name updated in the official land records for his farm. The case was heard by Judge Laxmi Narayana Alishetty.

What's the Case About?

Yella Maila Reddy filed a request in court because the officials hadn't processed his application to update his name in the land records. He had applied on April 24, 2022, to have his name on the records for a piece of land measuring 3 acres and 36 guntas in Peddaramancherla Village, Nangaon Mandal & District. Even though he paid the required fees, nothing had been done.

"Saying the action of The District Collector in not looking at and deciding on the Application... as unfair and unreasonable."

Who's Involved?

The people involved in this case were different government officials from Telangana: - The State of Telangana, represented by its main officer of the Revenue Department. - The District Collector of Jangaon. - The Revenue Divisional Officer of Jangaon Division. - The Tahsildar of Jangaon Mandal.

What Happened in Court?

When the case was presented, Yella Maila Reddy's lawyer asked to cancel the request. They plan to file a new application under a different law, the Telangana Bhu Bharati Act of 2025, to fix the entries in the land records.

Conclusion of the Case

Judge Laxmi Narayana Alishetty allowed the cancellation of the request. The court closed the case but gave Yella Maila Reddy the freedom to file a new application. There were no extra costs ordered by the court.

"Permission granted. As a result, the request is closed as canceled, allowing the freedom as asked..."

This case shows the ongoing struggles farmers face with government processes in updating land records.
