Let's dive into an interesting family drama that unfolded in Orissa, India. It involves family fights, alleged fake documents, and a lot of money. Here's what happened.

The Family Fight Begins

This all started with Bhagaban Gantyayat and his brother. Back in 2009, things got bad between them. The brother accused Bhagaban of faking his signature on a document to give away property that wasn't his to give. This led to a criminal case being filed at the Berhampur court, starting the whole legal battle.

"Bhagaban Gantyayat faked his brother's signatures and created a fake gift document."

Alleged Threats and Damage

On April 2, 2009, the drama got worse. Bhagaban supposedly hired some guys to threaten his brother. They reportedly damaged his car and house. This made things worse, leading to a police case in Ganjam District.

Court Battles and Attempts to Settle

Fast forward to December 24, 2011, when the Berhampur court looked into the alleged crimes. Bhagaban didn't agree and challenged the decision in the High Court of Orissa. However, the High Court rejected his appeal on December 16, 2020. Not giving up, Bhagaban took the matter to the Supreme Court of India.

To try and solve things peacefully, the Supreme Court appointed Shri Shibhashish Mishra to help mediate. Despite efforts, no agreement was reached, with both sides firm on the property's worth.

The Supreme Court Steps In

Finally, on July 29, 2025, the Supreme Court got involved. They decided that Bhagaban should pay Rs. 60 lakhs to his brother, a sum considered fair for the disputed property. Bhagaban agreed and paid the amount in parts, finishing on January 31, 2026.

"Bhagaban Gantyayat was told to pay Rs. 60 lakhs in six equal monthly payments."

Case Closed

With the money paid, the Supreme Court, led by Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Vikram Nath, decided to end this story. They stopped any further legal actions regarding the disputed land.

"All further actions against Bhagaban Gantyayat related to this criminal case and the lands in question are now stopped."

And there you have it—a family fight wrapped up with the court's help, showing how tricky property disputes can get, especially when mixed with family ties.
