The court, with Justice B. Pugalendhi in charge, ordered an investigation into the Rs. 4,000 transaction. The Deputy Superintendent's report confirmed that the transaction happened between Inbaraj and Special Sub Inspector Ms. Kodimalar, who was handling Karthika's complaint. This led to a suggestion for disciplinary action against the officer.
Based on the findings, the court decided to put a new officer in charge of the investigation. The Superintendent of Police was told to give the case to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Melur Sub Division, for a fair investigation.
