M. Mohankumar from Tiruppur District has been fighting for his land rights. He claims his land is wrongly recorded as 74 cents instead of 93 cents. The court has now ordered officials to look into this.
M. Mohankumar, who lives in Rasathavalasu Village, Kangayam Taluk, found himself in a confusing situation. He discovered that the official records showed his land as 74 cents, not the 93 cents he believed he owned. This mistake traces back to a sale document from 1959.
Mohankumar didn't just accept the mistake. He tried several times to correct this error by sending requests on December 12, 2023, and April 7, 2025. Unfortunately, these efforts didn't bring any change.
"The size of the land he owns has been wrongly shown in the document as 74 cents, instead of 93 cents."
On December 5, 2025, the High Court in Madras took notice. Judge Abdul Quddhose heard the case and told the Revenue Divisional Officer in Dharapuram and the Revenue Tahsildar in Kangayam Taluk to check Mohankumar's claims.
The court made it clear that the officials wouldn't be in trouble for considering Mohankumar's claims. Judge Quddhose ordered that a decision be made within 12 weeks, based on the facts and following the rules.
"This Court directs the first respondent to make a final decision based on the facts and following the rules."
The officials now have a deadline to resolve this issue. Mohankumar hopes that this time, his land records will finally reflect the truth. The court hasn't decided if Mohankumar's claim is right, but it has ensured he gets a fair review.
