Here's a quick rundown: A court case in Madras just wrapped up, where P. Chinnammal from Salem wanted a land record mistake fixed. The court told local officials to sort it out in 12 weeks.
P. Chinnammal, living in D. Perumapalyam Village, Salem, found a mistake in her land document, known as a UDR Patta. She owns a piece of land recorded under Survey No. 24/4G, bought way back on October 19, 1973. But there was an error in the document number, and she wanted it corrected.
On December 26, 2025, Chinnammal reached out to the District Revenue Officer in Salem. She asked them to fix the mistake. But nothing happened, so she took the issue to court, hoping for a court order to get the officials to do their job.
The case was heard by Justice Abdul Quddhose on January 22, 2026. The judge didn't dive into whether Chinnammal was right or wrong about the document. Instead, he simply told the Salem officials to take a look at her request and sort it out within 12 weeks.
"No harm would be done to the respondents if a direction is issued to consider the petitioner’s request," said the court order.
So, the court wrapped it up by directing the District Revenue Officer and others involved to handle Chinnammal's request by April 2026. They have to check out her claims and make a decision based on the law.
