Summary: In a recent decision, the Madras High Court granted a divorce to T. Manivannan and V. Padmashini, ending a marriage filled with accusations and long separations. The case was decided on November 28, 2025, by Justices G. Jayachandran and Mummneni Sudheer Kumar.
T. Manivannan and V. Padmashini got married on February 15, 2002. However, from the start, things were rocky. Manivannan claimed his wife insulted him and avoided their relationship. Despite moving to support her education, tensions grew.
"She often picked fights and insulted T. Manivannan by comparing him with others."
Their first child was born on March 15, 2003. But soon after, V. Padmashini left with the child, causing a rift. She returned after several months but left again with their second child, born on February 3, 2005. Manivannan alleged mistreatment and abandonment.
Manivannan first sought to bring his wife back home but later decided to seek a divorce, citing mistreatment and abandonment. Padmashini countered, saying she was forced out and was ready to return.
"V. Padmashini is ready to reunite with her husband and her leaving was not her choice."
The Family Court initially dismissed Manivannan's divorce request, but he appealed. The High Court found the marriage had broken down completely.
"The mutual accusations made against each other and long separation since February 2009...indicates that the marriage relationship has broken completely."
On November 28, 2025, the High Court allowed the appeal, ending the marriage. The judges determined that the evidence supported Manivannan's claims of mistreatment and abandonment.
