Quick Summary: The Madras High Court has told officials to take another look at a compensation claim for land in Kancheepuram. The person asking for this, Ganpathraj, wants his land to be valued at Rs. 50,000 per cent, following a Supreme Court decision.

The Case Begins

On December 16, 2025, the Madras High Court, with Judge Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy in charge, listened to a case where Ganpathraj asked for more money for his land. His land was taken for a government project, and he thought the payment was too low.

What Ganpathraj Wants

Ganpathraj's land was first valued at Rs. 33,075 per cent. However, he wants it to be Rs. 50,000 per cent, just like other landowners. He asked for this increase on October 22, 2025, based on a decision by the Supreme Court.

"The petitioner seeks payment of enhanced compensation at Rs. 50,000 per cent with all other benefits."

Why the Delay?

The government lawyer, Mr. Abishek Murthy, said that Ganpathraj took too long to ask for more money. There's a deadline for such requests, and he missed it.

Court's Decision

Judge Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy decided that Ganpathraj should be treated the same as others in a similar situation. He told the officials to look at Ganpathraj's request again.

"A decision shall be taken within four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order."

What's Next?

The court has given the officials four weeks to make a decision. So, by mid-January 2026, we should know if Ganpathraj will get the compensation he wants.
