The Kerala High Court has made a decision about how to manage the crowds at the famous Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple. The decision, made on November 21, 2025, by Judges Raja Vijayaraghavan V and K. V. Jayakumar, focuses on making the visit better for people coming to the temple.

The Problem with Long Lines

Visitors like P. N. Radhakrishnan and Sumesh C. M. brought the issue to court, pointing out the problems caused by long waiting times. The current system, where people stand in line for hours, especially during festivals like Ekadashi, is tough for the elderly and people with disabilities.

"The current system of an endless line creates serious problems for visitors, including elderly women, people with disabilities, and those traveling from far away."

The Court's Instructions

The court highlighted the need for a more organized line system. They suggested:

  • Scientific Study: Find out how many visitors the temple can handle each day.
  • Time Slots: Give specific times for groups to visit, so they don't have to wait long.
  • Digital Updates: Use mobile apps and digital screens to inform visitors about the line status in real-time.

Special Considerations

The court also emphasized the importance of giving special attention to certain groups:

  • Priority Visits: Special arrangements for senior citizens, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
  • Better Facilities: Provide basic needs like water, seating, and shade to make the visit more comfortable.

Why Change is Needed

The court's decision follows complaints about how the current system doesn't work well. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a virtual line system was used but later removed, leading to dissatisfaction among visitors.

"The large number of people standing in the long line can easily be managed by a scientific and systematic line system."

Looking Forward

The Guruvayoor Devaswom Managing Committee is responsible for making these changes happen. They must also create a permanent committee to work with different departments for better crowd management.

The court's decision is a big step towards making sure that every visitor's trip to the Guruvayoor Temple is peaceful and spiritually fulfilling.
