Summary: In a recent court battle in New Delhi, United Poly Engineering Pvt. Ltd. faced off against Yatra Online Pvt. Ltd. over a disagreement about questioning a witness. Justice Girish Kathpalia agreed with a lower court's decision, pointing out the procedural issues and a large fine for United Poly.

The Case Begins

On November 24, 2025, United Poly Engineering Pvt. Ltd. found themselves in a difficult situation in the Delhi High Court. They were supposed to question a witness from Yatra Online Pvt. Ltd., but things didn’t go as planned. The lawyer for United Poly refused to continue, insisting that the previous person who was supposed to be questioned be brought back.

Court's Patience Tested

Justice Girish Kathpalia noted that the lower court had already given United Poly's lawyer a chance to question the new representative. The lawyer, however, refused, saying he wasn't instructed to question the new witness. The court decided to postpone the matter, giving United Poly one last chance to follow the rules, but with a penalty cost.

"The plaintiff is only buying time," observed the lower court, highlighting its frustration with the delays.

Legal Arguments and Decisions

United Poly's lawyer argued that the previous representative should be present for a fair trial. However, the court pointed out that United Poly had agreed to the change of the new representative on November 20, 2025. Justice Kathpalia emphasized that the lower court had been kind by not ending the questioning altogether.

The Verdict

On November 27, 2025, Justice Kathpalia dismissed United Poly's request, calling it "pointless" and without any real reason. He ordered United Poly to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 to the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee within a week, in addition to the costs already imposed by the lower court.
