Summary: The Delhi High Court has ordered the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to let Skycom put up ads inside DLF Avenue Mall, Saket, even though there were some issues with registration.
Skycom filed a complaint against the MCD for not following court orders from November 26, 2025. The court had told Skycom to ask for permission to display ads within two days, which the MCD was supposed to approve based on an earlier order from May 20, 2019.
On December 8, 2025, the MCD said no to the request because Skycom wasn't registered as an "Advertiser" with them. Skycom said they had registered on July 3, 2019, and their registration was good until March 31, 2021. They kept showing ads at Select City Walk and DLF Promenade without any problems.
Justice Mini Pushkarna pointed out that the main question is whether ads inside malls need MCD registration. The court decided that for now, Skycom can show ads without being a registered advertiser, until the related case is decided.
"The said mandatory requirement of a registered advertiser would not be insisted upon by the MCD for the time being."
A joint check by the MCD and Skycom was planned for December 26, 2025. The MCD will look at the ad space and Skycom must provide a bank guarantee based on this check.
The court made it clear that this decision is only for Skycom's situation and doesn't apply to others. Skycom's rights will be decided in the ongoing case.
"The rights and contentions of the parties are left open, which shall be decided in the pending writ petition."
