Summary: Sangeeta's request to avoid being arrested was denied by the Delhi High Court on February 24, 2026. She's accused of faking property documents with her husband.
Sangeeta, through her lawyer Mr. Ravindra Kanth, asked for permission not to be arrested in a case involving several charges, including faking documents and lying. The case is about property in Palam Village, Delhi, with claims that Sangeeta and her husband, Indal Kumar, faked documents to take ownership.
The issue began with a property originally owned by Mahavir Singh, sold to Rameshwari, and then supposedly to the person who complained. The lawyers for the government say Sangeeta and Indal Kumar faked Rameshwari's signature to transfer the property through several people, eventually ending up with Sangeeta.
"The lab found the signatures on the documents to be real, supporting the complainant's claim," said the prosecution.
Sangeeta claims she is not guilty, saying she doesn't have the original documents. However, she couldn't explain why Indal Kumar gave the property to her as a gift. The lawyers for the government argue that the missing documents and the way the property changed hands suggest something dishonest.
The property was transferred many times with suspicious dates. The transfers from Rameshwari to Vipin Kumar (a made-up person) and then to others happened between 2003 and 2023. Notably, Baljeet Singh, another person involved, has died, and Vipin Kumar can't be found.
Justice Girish Kathpalia, considering the ongoing investigation and missing documents, decided not to grant bail. The court found the request to keep Sangeeta in custody for questioning reasonable due to the important stage of the investigation.
"Investigation is pending at a crucial stage," noted Justice Kathpalia.
Sangeeta's request not to be arrested was turned down, and the investigation is still ongoing to find out the truth behind the alleged property fraud.
