On January 29, 2026, the Delhi High Court allowed Ankit Jaiswal to be released from jail while his case is still ongoing, which involves serious accusations. Here's a breakdown of what happened.
It all started on September 30, 2024, when the mother of a 17-year-old girl reported her daughter missing at the Gandhi Nagar police station in Delhi. She mentioned that she didn't suspect anyone.
The girl came back home on her own, and during a medical check-up, she said she got lost and was helped by a boy who took her to a friend's house. There were no signs of injury or violence.
Later, she accused Ankit Jaiswal of inappropriate behavior. She claimed they went to Moradabad, where he left her alone in a room and later returned to spend time with her. They then traveled to Anand Vihar, where he allegedly left her.
Ankit Jaiswal's lawyers argued that the girl was almost 18 and made her own choices. They also claimed there was no relationship between Ankit and the girl.
The state's lawyer, helped by Bhawna Phogat, admitted that the girl didn't support their side during the trial. She was aware of her choices at the time.
Justice Girish Kathpalia decided to release Ankit Jaiswal from jail while the case continues, considering the girl's age and the lack of evidence. Ankit Jaiswal was released after promising to pay Rs.10,000 if required.
This decision doesn't affect the final trial, and the court will continue to hear the case.
