Prabhat Kumar's request to be released from jail while waiting for his trial was denied by the Delhi High Court on December 9, 2025. The case involves serious accusations, including lying, physical harm, and making threats against his wife.
The case started with a complaint on February 11, 2025. The person who complained accused Prabhat Kumar of tricking her into a relationship by falsely promising marriage. They met in April 2022 and got married on July 6, 2023, at Vedic Arya Mandal Trust, Ghaziabad. She claimed that he hid his previous marriage and forced her into a relationship.
"He got close to her by promising marriage and then had physical relations with her against her will."
At first, attempts to resolve the issue through discussion failed, leading to the filing of a police report on March 3, 2025, at the Crime Women Cell in Nanak Pura, Delhi. The charges included serious crimes under Indian law, such as Sections 498A, 406, 377, 376, and 506.
The investigation included a medical check-up at Safdarjung Hospital and statements from the person who complained and her parents. Photos and documents, like the marriage certificate and rental agreement, were submitted. The complainant also provided proof of threats from Kumar to share private videos.
"The forensic report about the applicant's mobile phone also supports the case against him."
Judge Swarana Kanta Sharma noted the seriousness of the accusations. The court found no reason to let him out on bail, considering the evidence and the nature of the charges.
"The charges in this case are yet to be officially decided, and the trial has not started."
The court emphasized that the decision on bail does not determine the case's final outcome. The trial will further look into the evidence and accusations.
