Everest Entertainment LLP claimed that Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar's new film copied their work. The court refused to give immediate help because Everest Entertainment LLP took too long to bring up the issue.

The Case: Everest Entertainment vs. Mahesh Manjrekar

Everest Entertainment LLP, the company bringing the case, filed a lawsuit against Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar and others, saying they copied their film "Mi Shivaji Raje Bhosale Boltoy." They claimed Manjrekar's film "Punha Shivaji Raje Bhosale" was a copy.

Everest Entertainment's Claims: Copyright and Reputation

Everest Entertainment LLP argued they had the sole rights to the original film's script, title, and promotional materials. They said that Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar's film was a major copy, which could confuse audiences.

"The questioned film is an obvious and direct copy of the Plaintiff's film," claimed Everest Entertainment.

Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar's Side: No Copying

Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar denied these claims, stating his film had a different story, focusing on issues like farmer suicides, unlike Everest Entertainment LLP's film about Marathi identity.

"There is no similarity between the ideas, planning, story, screenplay, dialogue, characters, etc.," argued Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar.

Court's Observation: Delays and Lack of Proof

Justice Amit S. Jamsandekar noted Everest Entertainment LLP's delay in filing the lawsuit even though they knew about the alleged copying since April 2025. The court emphasized that Everest Entertainment LLP did not provide timely proof or reasons for the delay.

"The delay by the Plaintiff is intentional," observed the court.

Decision: Denial of Immediate Help

The court refused to give immediate help due to Everest Entertainment LLP's delay and lack of strong proof. The next hearing is set for November 2025, allowing Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar time to respond.

"The situation heavily favors the Defendants," concluded the judgment.

The court decided not to give immediate help because Everest Entertainment LLP delayed filing the case and didn't provide enough proof. The next hearing is scheduled for November 2025.
