Summary: A group of students took their fight to court after their recruitment results were withheld due to a biometric mismatch. They won the case and the court ordered the results to be released.

The Case Begins: Students vs. The System

A bunch of students, including Shaikh Sadik Hanif and Gopal Kailas Chavan, filed a formal complaint against the Union of India through the Ministry of Home Affairs and others. They had applied for jobs like Constable and Rifleman in various forces. They passed all exams and tests but faced a problem when their fingerprint data didn't match during document verification.

The Biometric Mix-Up

Shaikh Sadik Hanif and Gopal Kailas Chavan argued that the fingerprint mismatch wasn't their fault. Despite passing all stages, their results were held back. They wanted the court to push the authorities to release their results so they could join the upcoming training.

"The fingerprint mismatch is not a fault attributable to them," argued the students.

Court's Take: Time to Act

Judges Smt. Vibha Kankanwadi and Hiten S. Venegavkar heard the case. They noted that similar cases had been resolved in favor of the students. The court emphasized that Shaikh Sadik Hanif and Gopal Kailas Chavan had cleared all necessary exams and tests.

Verdict: Release the Results

The court ordered the authorities to announce the students' results within four weeks. The judges highlighted that the students deserved to know their results, given they had successfully completed all requirements.

"We direct the respondents to declare the result of the petitioners within a period of four weeks from today."
