A student named Mittapally Harsha was kicked out of Nizam College for alleged bad behavior and bullying. However, the court found the actions against him were unfair and ordered a review of the decision, allowing him to continue his studies and exams.
Mittapally Harsha, a B.Sc. student at Nizam College, was expelled and given a transfer certificate citing "Bad Behavior & Bullying." This was after a protest by hostel students about accommodation issues, which Harsha claims he didn't participate in. The college's principal issued the expulsion order on September 25, 2025.
"The action of the principal by expelling Mittapally Harsha... is illegal, unfair, and against the rules..."
Harsha argued that the college's Anti-Bullying Committee report was contradictory, mentioning different dates, casting doubt on its authenticity. Despite a statement by 90 hostel students saying no bullying occurred, the college stood by its decision.
Harsha sought help from the Registrar and the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, who advised him to promise not to join protests. Despite this, the college didn't let him back in. He even approached the Telangana Human Rights Commission for help.
Justice Surepalli Nanda reviewed the case and noted that Harsha wasn't given a warning before his expulsion, which was unfair. The court directed Harsha to submit a detailed request to the Vice-Chancellor for reconsideration.
"The student deserves the relief he asked for in the current petition."
Harsha can now make his case to the Vice-Chancellor, who must consider it fairly and quickly. This decision allows Harsha to potentially sit for his 5th Semester exams, ensuring his academic progress isn't stalled.
The court decided that Harsha's expulsion was unfair because he wasn't given a chance to explain himself first. They have allowed him to present his side of the story to the Vice-Chancellor, which could let him continue his studies and exams.
