Quick Summary: A student from Telangana faced a technical glitch while applying for a medical course. The court has now allowed her to submit a new request to the university for consideration.
Mandadhi Aswani, a student from Telangana, applied for admission to an MBBS/BDS course for the 2025-26 academic year. She aimed to secure a seat under the management quota in the 'B&C' category. Unfortunately, due to a technical issue, she missed the deadline to choose her preferred colleges during the first phase of counseling.
"She could not choose her preferred colleges in the first phase of counseling... before 2:00 p.m. on 24.09.2025."
Aswani's lawyer argued that despite her efforts to resolve the issue with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, her request was not considered. They asked the court to direct the university to look into her case, similar to a previous order dated 06.10.2025.
The university, represented by Mr. T. Sharath, stated that their rules were clear. Students who didn't choose their preferred colleges in the first phase were not allowed to participate in the later phases to prevent holding seats unnecessarily. However, they mentioned that if Aswani submitted a formal request, the university would consider it according to the rules.
"Students... who do not choose their preferred colleges in the first phase... shall not be allowed... in the next phase."
The court, led by Chief Justice Sri Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, decided to allow Aswani to submit a request to the university. The university must consider her request within two days of receiving it. If accepted, she could be considered for unfilled seats in the final round of admissions.
"Student is allowed to submit a request... University would consider it according to the rules within two days."
The court did not express any opinion on the strength of Aswani's case. The case was closed without any costs.
