The Gondwana Dandakaranya Party wants to join the elections in Telangana, but there's a problem. They haven't been officially recognized as a political party or given a common symbol to use in the elections. So, they took the matter to court.
The Gondwana Dandakaranya Party, represented by Smt. Vattam Himabindu, went to court. They said that even though they applied to the State Election Commission on August 21 and September 22, 2025, they haven't been registered or given a symbol. They want to take part in the upcoming Panchayat Raj local body elections.
The State Election Commission, represented by Senior Lawyer Sri G. Vidya Sagar, explained that they have to follow the rules set out in the Registration of Political Parties and Allotment of Symbols Order, 2018. They said the Gondwana Dandakaranya Party can't make them register the party and give them a symbol until all the requirements are met.
"The party cannot make the Commission immediately register it and give the common symbol, unless all the necessary rules are followed."
The case was heard by Chief Justice Sri Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin. They decided not to look into the details of the case. Instead, they told the State Election Commission to fairly consider and handle the Gondwana Dandakaranya Party's applications according to the law.
The court didn't make either side pay for any costs, and any other requests related to the case were closed. Now, it's up to the State Election Commission to decide on the Gondwana Dandakaranya Party's registration and symbol allocation.
In summary, the court has asked the Election Commission to review the party's application fairly, but there's no final decision yet. The Gondwana Dandakaranya Party will have to wait to see if they can join the elections.
