In a recent decision, the Madras High Court has told the Principal District Court in Vellore to hurry up and finish a case that's been going on for a long time. This decision comes after many delays and missed deadlines.

Background of the Case

This case started in 2010 when a lawsuit was filed, and an initial decision was made. Over the years, the final decision process started, but it faced many delays. The people who started the case, led by S. Devakantha, have been waiting for a final decision for quite a while.

Attempts to Overturn the Decision

The people on the other side, including T.E. Mohanam and others, tried to overturn the decision that was made without them being present. They were criticized for taking too long to act. S. Devakantha's lawyer, Mr. T.M. Hariharan, said that the court in charge of carrying out the decision was unnecessarily delaying the process.

"The court handling the decision has been delaying the process, saying it's because of the application to overturn the decision," said Mr. Hariharan.

Respondents' Position

The people on the other side, represented by Mr. M. Marudhachalam, also filed an application under Section 47 of the Civil Procedure Code. They questioned whether the decision could actually be carried out, making the case even more complicated.

"It's not just the decision made without us; we are also questioning if the decision can be carried out," stated Mr. Marudhachalam.

Court's Decision

On December 19, 2025, Justice P.B. Balaji ordered the Vellore court to continue with the process of carrying out the decision and other pending applications by March 31, 2026. There was no order stopping the court from moving forward.

"The court in charge of carrying out the decision shall proceed to handle E.P.No.24 of 2024 in O.S.No.72 of 2010," ordered Justice Balaji.

Summary of the Verdict

The court's decision is to move forward with the process and resolve the case by March 31, 2026. This aims to finally bring closure to the people involved who have been waiting for many years.
