Quick Summary: Sivakumar and others filed a request to get back the land ownership document in their grandmother's name, Palaniammal, which they say was taken away unfairly. The court has told the authorities to take action within 12 weeks.
On December 16, 2025, the High Court of Madras, with Judge Abdul Quddhose in charge, listened to the case brought by Sivakumar and other family members. They wanted to restore the land ownership document for their grandmother, Palaniammal, in Palladam Village, Tiruppur District. The family claimed the document was taken away without a good reason.
The family, represented by Mr. P. Saravana Sowmiyan, argued that the ownership document for 4.09 acres of land was wrongly taken away. They had sent a letter on September 16, 2025, to the officials but got no reply. This made them file a request to the court for a timely decision.
Judge Abdul Quddhose instructed the fourth official, the local land officer of Palladam, to look into the family's request. The court ordered that the decision should be fair and follow the rules, also considering any complaints from nearby landowners. The decision must be made within 12 weeks from when the court's instructions are received.
"No harm will come to the fourth official if the family's request dated 16.09.2025 is looked at fairly and according to the rules," stated Judge Abdul Quddhose.
The court made it clear that it was not giving an opinion on who is right or wrong in the case. The officials have to review the case and decide on bringing back the ownership document for Palaniammal. This process should include listening to any important complaints from others involved.
The court has ordered the local land officer to review the family's request to restore their grandmother's land ownership document and make a decision within 12 weeks, considering any objections from others.
