In a recent decision on January 23, 2026, the Madras High Court decided to allow a re-check of a disputed property in Erikodipatti Village, Dharmapuri. Judge R. Sakthivel was in charge of the case, which involves a property argument between Thavamani and T. Jayamani.
Thavamani and Selvamani, the people who brought the case, are family members of Marimuthu and Pachiammal. The argument is about land that was originally owned by Marimuthuammal, who passed it down before she died. The people bringing the case claim that T. Jayamani, the person they are accusing, has taken more land than he was sold.
The people bringing the case first went to court in 2014 to try to get back the land they say was taken. They asked for a lawyer to measure the land, but the report didn't show any land was taken. Despite this, the people bringing the case insisted on measuring again, saying the first survey didn't properly check the accused person's sale papers.
Judge R. Sakthivel listened to the concerns and allowed the request for a new check. The court ordered a new inspection with a land surveyor to see if any land was taken.
"Re-checking and re-measuring the property is absolutely necessary," the court stated.
The Trial Court must now issue an order to the lawyer for a new survey. The people bringing the case have 15 days to provide an official copy of the accused person's sale papers to help with this.
The court's decision is an important step in solving the ongoing argument about the property in Erikodipatti Village. The court stressed the need for accurate measurement to ensure a fair decision.
