Here's the scoop on a recent court decision where three people, Anand Kumar, Rakesh Verma, and Priya Desai, tried to get out of jail but were told no. They were caught with a big stash of MDMA, and the judge wasn't going for it.

What Happened?

On August 30, 2025, the police caught Anand Kumar, Rakesh Verma, and Priya Desai near Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam Park in Ghatkesar. They found a total of 31.35 grams (gross) and 22.85 grams (net) of MDMA with them, along with a scooter and some mobile phones. It turns out, Anand Kumar and Rakesh Verma had gone to Bangalore earlier in the month, bought 25 grams of MDMA, and Rakesh Verma paid Rs.17,000 for 12 grams of it. So, they got busted and a complaint was filed.

The Lawyers Weigh In

Sri B. Rama Shankara Rao, the lawyer for Anand Kumar, Rakesh Verma, and Priya Desai, argued that his clients were innocent and had been in jail since August 31, 2025. He said they were ready to cooperate with the investigation and follow any rules the court set if they got out on bail.

On the other hand, Sri D. Arun Kumar, the lawyer for the government, disagreed. He pointed out that the amount of MDMA involved was considered a "large quantity." According to the law, this made the crimes serious and not easy to get bail for. He wanted the court to deny bail.

The Judge's Decision

Justice K. Sujana listened to both sides and looked at the evidence. She noted that the amount of MDMA was indeed a large quantity, which made it a serious crime. The law clearly states that for such crimes, bail isn't easy to get. The judge wasn't convinced that Anand Kumar, Rakesh Verma, and Priya Desai were not guilty or that they wouldn't commit more crimes if let out.

"In the facts and circumstances of the case on hand, this Court is not satisfied that conditions for granting bail under Section 37 are met."

So, the request for bail was turned down, and Anand Kumar, Rakesh Verma, and Priya Desai are staying in jail for now.
