Hey everyone! Here's a quick rundown of a recent court case involving a passport issue and a pending police report. The case took place in the High Court of Madras, overseen by Judge M. Dhandapani.
N. Yuthistran, the person who brought the case, wanted a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for his passport. He needed it for an Australian visa application. However, the Regional Passport Officer in Chennai had put his PCC on hold because of a pending police report against him.
Yuthistran applied for a Skilled Regional Visa to Australia. The Australian government asked for a PCC by September 30, 2025. But the Regional Passport Officer delayed it due to an unclear police verification report. This was because of a police report, numbered 481 of 2025, which is still being looked into.
Yuthistran's lawyer argued that the police report was not for a serious crime. The victim only had broken bone injuries. Plus, no official charges were filed yet. They wanted the court to order the Regional Passport Officer to issue the PCC.
"The offense is not serious, and the victim has sustained only fracture injuries."
The police promised to send the verification report by the end of the day. The Regional Passport Officer agreed to process Yuthistran's application once they received it.
Judge M. Dhandapani closed the case, noting the promises made by both the police and the Regional Passport Officer. The court didn't require anyone to pay any costs.
So there you have it! Yuthistran's passport process is back on track, thanks to the court's intervention.
