Summary: Danish Ahmed's request for a Tehbazari site in Delhi was turned down by the court, and he was told to pay a fine for not sharing important information.
Danish Ahmed asked the court on 2nd February 2026 for a letter to move and get a Tehbazari site in Bapu Market, Delhi. He said he was kicked out of his spot because a new parking lot was being built. Ahmed argued that even though he paid to move, he hadn't been given a new spot.
This wasn't Ahmed's first try. He had asked the court before (case number 13082/2025) but took it back. His lawyer, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Ojha, argued that Ahmed should get the spot because he paid Rs. 1,00,000 on 27th February 2012.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), represented by Ms. Namrata Mukim, said that Ahmed had given his rights to the spot to Kamaljeet Singh in 2016. Papers showed Ahmed and Singh were partners, and the spot was given to Singh through a General Power of Attorney.
The court, with Judges Prathiba M. Singh and Madhu Jain, found Ahmed's request misleading. He didn't share that he had given away his rights, which was not allowed. The court rejected his request and fined him Rs. 10,000, which he must pay to the Delhi High Court Legal Service Committee within two weeks.
"The Petitioner has shockingly not revealed any of these documents..." - Judge Prathiba M. Singh
Ahmed must pay the fine by 9th March 2026. If he doesn't, he could face serious consequences.
This case shows how important it is to be honest in court and what can happen if you hide information.
