On February 19, 2026, the Delhi High Court temporarily helped M/S P K Shefi in their ongoing disagreement with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC). The case is about the claimed disruptions to P K Shefi's business at the New Delhi Railway Station.
M/S P K Shefi, with the help of their lawyer Mr. Sanjoy Ghosh, asked the court for urgent help under a law that deals with settling disputes outside of court. They wanted:
Stopping Certain Actions: They wanted to stop IRCTC from acting on letters from January 13 and January 19, 2026, that could hurt their business.
Protecting Their Food Plaza: They asked the court to make sure their Food Plaza at the New Delhi Railway Station isn't torn down or messed with until their dispute is settled.
Opening Up Access: They wanted the removal of barriers and for passenger access to be restored to how it was when the Food Plaza first opened.
Lower License Fees: They asked to pay only 25% of the yearly license fee until things go back to normal.
"The business of the Petitioner has suffered immensely due to the various works by Indian Railways," argued Mr. Ghosh.
IRCTC, represented by Mr. Chandan Kumar, responded by saying:
No Real Reason: They argued that P K Shefi's request was based on fears without real proof.
Follow the Contract: IRCTC stressed that P K Shefi should stick to the payment terms in their agreement.
Even so, Mr. Kumar recognized P K Shefi's concerns and said he would look into them further.
Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, who was in charge of the case, decided that:
No Forceful Actions: Until IRCTC looks into P K Shefi’s requests, they shouldn't do anything harmful to them.
Advance Notice of Decisions: If any decision that isn't in favor of P K Shefi is made, they should be given a week's notice before it happens.
"This Court is of the view that, until due consideration is given, no coercive steps shall be taken," stated Justice Shankar.
With these instructions, the court temporarily helped P K Shefi by preventing any immediate harmful actions from IRCTC while waiting for more developments.
