Quick Summary: On January 27, 2026, the Delhi High Court turned down bail requests for Gulzar, who is involved in several cases. Things got confusing when another court gave him bail without knowing about the ongoing requests. Justice Girish Kathpalia had strong words about the mistake.

The Bail Request

Gulzar, through his lawyer Mr. M.K. Mishra, asked for regular bail in two cases (FIR Nos. 106/2025 and 107/2025) at the New Delhi Railway Station. The charges involve sections 305(c), 317(c), and 3(5) BNS.

Surprise Bail Grant

While Gulzar's bail requests were waiting in the High Court, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) unexpectedly gave him bail on January 3, 2026. It turned out that the ACJM didn't know about the ongoing High Court requests.

"It is shocking... the accused/applicant has already been released on bail," remarked Justice Kathpalia.

Concealed Information

The prosecution revealed that Gulzar is involved in 17 similar cases at different police stations. This important detail was not shared with the ACJM, leading to the unexpected bail.

Police Oversight

The High Court was not happy with the police, especially since the status report was filed without proper checks. The investigating officer was on leave, and the Station House Officer (SHO) didn't verify the report, which led to the bail being granted.

Next Steps

The police plan to cancel the bail order at the ACJM court, with a hearing set for January 29, 2026. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has been asked to explain the false status report, and action has been started against those responsible.

"The concerned DCP shall personally file a report explaining the action," ordered the court.

Judge's Decision

Justice Girish Kathpalia turned down both bail requests and instructed the SHO to inform the ACJM about the High Court's decision.

Summary of Verdict: The High Court dismissed Gulzar's bail requests and highlighted the importance of clear communication in the legal system to avoid such mistakes in the future.
