In a recent decision, the court addressed a situation involving the petitioners and the police. The petitioners claimed they were being pressured to pay money, and the court stepped in to resolve the issue.
The petitioners, Smt Azeemabhee, Md Khaja Miya, and Md Zafar, filed a formal request to the court. They alleged that the police, specifically the officer in charge at Birkur Police Station, were calling them to the station and pressuring them to pay ₹5,00,000 to Smt Salma Begum. They argued this was unfair and against their rights under the laws of India.
"The action of the officer in charge in calling the petitioners regularly to the police station and pressuring the petitioners to pay the amount... is unfair, illegal, and not allowed."
Judge N. Tukaramji heard the case. Initially, the court had issued a temporary order on August 18, 2016, telling the police not to get involved in the personal dispute or pressure the petitioners. This was a temporary measure to protect the petitioners while the case was being considered.
After reviewing the situation, the court decided to make the temporary order permanent. The police were instructed not to call the petitioners or force them to pay the money.
"This Court finds that the complaint of the petitioners has been successfully addressed."
The court's decision means that the police cannot force the petitioners to pay the money, and the petitioners' rights are protected.
