Summary: A contempt case was closed with a warning after a delay in releasing seized paddy, despite a previous court order.
In the Contempt Case No.1694 of 2025, overseen by Judge T. Madhavi Devi, the person who brought the case, Mohammed Khasim, claimed that a court order from 02.05.2025 was not followed on purpose. This order, originally given in Case No.10944 of 2025, directed that the seized paddy should be released.
The government lawyer for civil supplies mentioned that the paddy was eventually given back to Mohammed Khasim, as the court had instructed. However, there was a significant delay of two months. The officials, including Sri D S Chauhan, Sri G Veera Reddy, and Smt Roja Rani, explained that the delay happened because it was a busy time for buying paddy, which made it hard to act quickly.
"There is a delay of 2 months in releasing the paddy... due to procurement of paddy season."
Judge T. Madhavi Devi decided to end the contempt case but gave a warning to the authorities. The court stressed the need to follow orders more carefully in the future to avoid such delays.
"This Court is inclined to close the Contempt Case, however, with a warning to the authorities to be more careful in future."
The case was closed without any additional costs, and any other pending requests related to the contempt case were also closed. The court's decision highlights the importance of following court orders on time to ensure justice and efficiency in government actions.
