NTT DATA took legal action against the State of Telangana over a tax problem. They've decided to drop it for now, but they can still try again later.
NTT DATA Information Processing Services Private Limited, with Mr. Satya Subsahmanyam Garimella representing them, started a legal case. They were challenging the State of Telangana and the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax because of some tax issues.
Chief Justice Sri Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin were the judges who listened to both sides and decided what should happen next.
Mr. Akshay Mantri, the lawyer for NTT DATA, asked the court to let them drop the case. They wanted to keep the option open to try other ways to solve the problem, like filing an appeal later.
“The lawyer for NTT DATA asked the court for permission to drop the case but still have the chance to try other solutions, like an appeal.”
The State, represented by Sri K. Sai Akarsh, didn't have any problems with NTT DATA's decision to drop the case. This made it easier for the judges to agree to let them do so.
On September 24, 2025, the court officially closed the case as dropped. They made it clear that NTT DATA could still try other legal options if they wanted. There were no extra costs ordered for either side.
“Therefore, the case is closed as dropped, but NTT DATA can still explore other legal options. No extra costs will be charged to either side.”
This decision ends this part of the case, but NTT DATA can still take further action in the future if they choose to.
