Summary: In a recent court decision, two farmers from Nirmal District, Telangana, sought to reclaim their land rights. The court directed the local authorities to address their applications within 30 days.
B Bhumesh and Posani Pechamolla, both farmers from Mudhole village, claimed ownership of 2.26 acres of land in Takli Village, Basara Mandal. They had all the necessary documents, like old and new land ownership books and title deeds. However, their land details went missing from the computerized records, known as pahanies.
B Bhumesh and Posani Pechamolla submitted applications online on August 20, 2024, and during a local government meeting on June 18, 2025, asking for their land to be included in the records. Despite acknowledgement, the local Tasildar, the second person responsible, did not act on their requests. Frustrated, they filed a formal complaint.
Judge K. Lakshman listened to the case. The Assistant Government Lawyer, Sri L. Ravinder, explained that due to the Telangana Bhu Bharati Act, 2025, there's no rule for computerized pahanies. However, the authorities promised to consider the farmers' requests and update the Bhu Bharati Portal.
"The second person responsible will consider the request made by the petitioner and include the aforesaid extent of land in the Bhu Bharati Portal."
The court ordered the Tasildar to review the applications and update the portal or provide specific reasons if they cannot. This process must be completed within 30 days from the order date, August 21, 2025.
The court has directed the local authorities to review the farmers' applications and update the land records within 30 days, providing a clear path for B Bhumesh and Posani Pechamolla to reclaim their land rights.
