Summary: This case is all about land compensation. Sukhwant Bapurao Sonale and Shrimant Bapurao Sonale were unhappy with the payment given for their land, which was taken by the government for a water storage project. They believed the payment was too low and took the matter to court.

The Land Acquisition Story

Back in 2000, the government decided to take land in Takli (Bombli), Latur for a water storage project. The Sonale brothers felt the payment was unfair. They claimed the market value was Rs. 2,00,000 per acre, but the payment was much lower.

"The market rate at the time of the announcement was Rs. 2,00,000/- per Acre," argued Sukhwant Bapurao Sonale and Shrimant Bapurao Sonale.

The Court Battle

The case was heard by Judge R. M. Joshi on October 15, 2025. The Sonales showed evidence, including sale documents, to support their claim for higher payment. The court accepted one sale document as a similar example but initially didn't fully agree with the Sonales' valuation.

The Valuation Debate

The court evaluated the land based on a sale document showing Rs. 1,70,000/- per acre and decided on a payment of Rs. 2,500 per R. The Sonales argued that since the land was irrigated, it should be valued higher, and they deserved more payment for trees and buildings.

The Final Decision

The court finally decided to increase the payment. The Sonales were awarded Rs. 6,346.66 per R for the land. They also received extra payment for trees and buildings, plus interest.

"The State of Maharashtra to pay Sukhwant Bapurao Sonale and Shrimant Bapurao Sonale at the rate of Rs. 6346.66/- per R for irrigated land," the court ordered.

The court's decision ensured the Sonales received fair compensation for their land and efforts.
