Summary: The High Court has told the police not to bother Mrs. Menavath Bhavitha after she married the man she chose. The court wants to protect her personal freedom and dignity.
Mrs. Menavath Bhavitha, a 23-year-old from Kurnool, took a big step by marrying Ravi Chandra Naik on June 18, 2016. They got married at Arya Samaj in Secunderabad. But soon after, she started getting threatening calls, which made her life stressful.
Justice C. Praveen Kumar of the High Court noticed that Bhavitha was receiving these scary calls. The police, especially from the Rayadurgam station, were allegedly pressuring her to come in for questioning. Bhavitha felt this was unfair since she was an adult and had the right to make her own choices.
"The Commissioner of Police, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, and the Station House Officer should not call Mrs. Menavath Bhavitha or take any forceful actions against her without following the proper legal steps."
The main people involved in this case are from the police department of Telangana, including the Principal Secretary and several officers from Cyberabad. Also involved is Palmparthi Suresh Reddy, who seems to have a personal interest in Bhavitha's life.
The court made it clear that Bhavitha should not be forced to go to the police station unless there's a legal reason. The court also said she can go to them anytime if she feels her life or freedom is at risk.
The court has given the police ten weeks to respond to this order. Until then, Bhavitha can live her life without worrying about unwanted interference.
